How Boys Play | flower mound children photographer

Last week after tearing the boys away from the ipad and cell phone, I found them playing in my bedroom. I have three boys so I don't have much to compare to, but I would venture to guess that boys playing is a bit different than girls playing. These two kids reminded me of little bear cubs that you might see on tv. They rolled around tugging, pulling, poking, laughing, pushing, and squealing. All day long I say 'Be careful!', 'Not so rough!', 'No hitting!', 'Be gentle!', 'Watch out for Thomas!', 'Quit jumping from the couch to the ottoman!', 'Someone's going to get hurt!', 'Don't come crying to me when you get hurt!'. One day they might listen to me, but until then this is how boys play and how they have become inseparable.

Friday Favs | dfw storytelling photographer

Yesterday the boys played Star Wars in the backyard. I tried to play with them but John kept giving me very specific rules on what I could do and who I could be which was all just too difficult for me to follow being that I have never really seen any of the Star Wars movies. So I instead grabbed the camera and snapped some action photos.

Friday Favs

This week's favorite pictures were from testing out my new camera. I finally splurged and bought a Canon 6D and so far I am loving it! Since my hubby will be gone next week, I will be spending lots of time testing out all the features!

Friday Favs

It's Friday, so you know what that means...Friday Favs!!! Woohoo!

My sweet John John taking a rest at the park. For some reason he usually keeps his helmet on while running around at the park.

The favorite part of a hair cut is the lollipop afterwards. I am always nervous about the check out part because they run out of lollipops often in which case the boys are extremely disappointed!

A trip to the lake- on the way there the boys were complaining they didn't want to go. Their faces tell otherwise.

Explorations at the old barn with cousins.

Earlier this week the boys all sat down to play with play doh. This simple toy is magical and entertains the boys for about an hour while they play very peacefully so I kinda love it. Thomas decided he would rather sit by the window and soak in the sights of our backyard. When he saw me taking his photograph, I swear he was posing for me! When I stopped taking pictures he made some gestures like he wanted me to keep taking pictures of him. He was so cute! So these are of course some of my favorite photos of the week. (and because I know my mom will read this and notice my windows, I DID wipe down my windows before the party on Saturday so the dirt is on the outside! or they got re-smudge and I can't be accountable for washing my windows every week! )

Friday Favs | dfw storytelling photography

I think I may have decided to do a Project 365 in which you take a photograph each day for a year. Sounds doable, right? So today I am sharing my favs from the first day of my project. We will see if I can keep it up all year!

The boys are newly obsessed with watching Star Wars movies. Let me share a secret- I haven't seen any of them. However Brad will certainly not object to watching the movies with the boys on a lazy New Year's Day.

This littlest one is addicted to the iPad. As in he asks for it all the time and has mini meltdowns when I say no. I think I am going to add 'scale back iPad' to my new year's resolutions.
