100 Check-Ins | flower mound photographer

Today I hit my first big milestone at Camp Gladiator where I have been working out since January of this year. I made my 100th check-in, which they make a big deal of, complete with a coveted t-shirt. Well, the shirt is actually the only thing you get, but it is the principle of meeting a goal! I figured since I documented my friend Amy's 100th check-in I might as well bring the camera out to mine as well. Starting with my 4:45 wake-up call, I layered on the clothes to prep for a 35 degree outdoor workout. Once at camp my trainer Janet took her traditional photos with me and I gave a quick speech to the group. Then it was back to a normal workout, CG style.

At the risk of sounding like a big plug for Camp Gladiator, but I have really enjoyed working out with this group. I was pressured to try it out from my friend Amy and I reluctantly took a month break from my gym workouts to try it out. Although I did like my gym workouts (only because I was doing Body Rock TV workouts there, not because the gym was good), the atmosphere at CG doesn't even compare to that of the gym. We typically have around 50-60 people at the work outs I attend and everyone is so supportive, encouraging, and friendly. It is much more fun to workout at 5am with friends that at 5am by myself at the gym. Now, the cold weather isn't super fun, but I am surprised at how 30 degree temps are bearable when working out.

I have gotten stronger, gotten faster (which wasn't hard to do since I have always been a slow runner), added muscle, and gained friends in the past 11 months. The next milestone is 250 check-ins and I am going to aim to hit that by the end of 2016. The math nerd in me is already trying to calculate how many times a week I need to go to CG. :)

These photos are part of a 5 on 5 blog circle. After you take a quick peek at my 100th check-in photos, head over to Melissa's blog to see her December's documentary photos.

Meet Baby Blake | flower mound family photographer

My friend Amy had a baby boy last month so I happily took some photos of her new family of five. I stopped by one day for his newborn photos and then spent an hour one weekend as they hung out around the house. Big sisters absolutely love their baby brother and you could see how much fun this family has together. The girls loved being carried around like a sack of potatoes by Daddy, pretending to be a vet in the playroom, and playing with their beloved dog in the backyard. I am reminded how the third kid just is along for the ride, and luckily Blake didn't fuss the whole time I was there. This family is absolutely precious!

A Downtown Family Session | jen faith brown photography

Anyone dread family photo sessions? All in the name of getting 'one good family photo'? I hate trying to get coordinating outfits for my family because I am the only girl which means the only colors that work for us are basically blue, grey, and maybe a pop of red. So every year my photos are in the same color scheme. And let me be honest for  second...we did our whole family photos for Christmas cards last weekend and halfway through I was in tears. Very embarrassing!

So, today I wanted to share a FUN and EASY family photo session. This is my sister's family around her wedding anniversary. So we went to Bass Hall in downtown Ft. Worth where they got married 10 years ago. From there we walked around, got ice cream and stopped at Sundance Square before heading back home. The only time we did anything posed was when Al specifically wanted photos of her and Tyler together for their 10 year anniversary. Everything else was easy peasy. Family photo that is frame worthy? check. Portraits of family members? check. This is my kind of photo session...and NO TEARS! :)
