Mom & Her Camera | digital photography lessons Flower Mound, TX

Last week I dusted off my teacher cobwebs in the brain (has it been over 4 years since I have been in the classroom already?!) and met with Julie to teach her how to use her camera.. I met her through my Flower Mound MOMS Club when I did a quick presentation on taking better natural photos of our children. She came up to me asking about changing her settings on her DSLR so I knew immediately I would love to sit with her one-on-one to teach her to use her camera in manual. So I typed up a quick mini lesson, quiz included of course, and taught her how to use her camera in manual so that she can capture the wonderful moments of her life with her precious family.

The best part of the session was how Julie's face literally lit up when she realized she could get 'blurry backgrounds'. She was ecstatic and said her facebook pictures were going to all have that coveted creamy background style.



I brought my youngest son with us and he served as a model as we practiced photographing a moving subject around her house and outside in the backyard in attempts to practice in different lighting scenarios.





As Julie put it quite accurately, she is one of many moms who pins photography tutorials and lessons to her heart's content on Pinterest, yet never does anything with the material.  A quick private lesson gave her the immediate jump start to taking better photos as well as a great base to really understand those tutorials when she finds the time to dig deeper into photography. You know, when she has more time...so when her children head off to college. :)

Camping Trip | grapevine texas family photographer

Over Easter weekend, I photographed a fun-loving family on their camping trip at The Vineyards Campgrounds at Lake Grapevine. I caught up with them as they were starting their breakfast of champions and then they took off doing what little boys do- exploring the sand and playing on the playground. Camping was a perfect activity for these little boys and I am happy I was able to do a quick family photo session for them to capture their quality time together in the great outdoors.

Welcoming Baby Camila | Newborn Photographer, Flower Mound

One of my sweet friends, Celia, had a gorgeous baby girl about two weeks ago. I went to their home in Flower Mound just days later to meet Miss Camila and photograph her among her family and visitors. Celia's dad, sister and nieces were in from Mexico while Matt's mom, sister and niece were in town visiting as well. What a fun loving group this was to watch as they played, laughed, and simply spent time together in Matt and Celia's gorgeous backyard. The weather was perfect for everyone to gather on the deck and enjoy each other's company while loving on the sweet newborn baby. I loved that Matt's side of the family had picked up on enough Spanish to talk to Sebastian, Camila's big brother. I also was touched at how Celia's dad couldn't get enough cuddles with Camila as he was traveling back to Mexico the following day. Baby Camila is certainly born into a loving, precious family with an amazing support system and I am honored to have been able to photograph this family.
